My son has been using the Cat 8 for the last 3 years with great success. He is not a big kid so he benefits from a well balanced bat for generating bat speed and having more control. He used another brand composite bat in the fall league and also liked it. We bought the newest (most expensive) version of that bat in October and broke two of them where the barrel meets the handle. So we went back to the Cat 8 alloy and he STILL loves it. Great bat for the money. The loud noise can get annoying when hitting in the basement or the garage, but on the field people take notice.,

Our son likes the grip, feel and pop right out of the wrapper. He used other marucci bats in the past. Just hit a HR over the weekend travel tournament, practiced with the bat for a week. Will continue to buy this brand in the future.
